President’s editorial : public is back, at last!

After a 2020 edition cancelled, followed by a behind closed door tournament in 2021 due to the pandemic, Play In Challenger will host again, 3 years after, a public we can imagine impatient to be back in the grandstands of Marcel Bernard facilities, and to live at the pace of the yellow small ball!

First of all, I am delighted on this come back of people, who will be able to attend closely the most significant men’s professional tennis tournament in the North of Paris, and to the birth of future world tennis stars. Let’s remind us that some players such as Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, Aslan Karatsev but also French Nicolas Mahut, Ugo Humbert, Benjamin Bonzi and Arthur Rinderknech played over the last years on the Center court of the tournament managed by Tennis Club Lillois Lille Métropole.

The organisation of this one would have not been able without the support of our partners, and firstly our institutional partners. This is why I would like to warmly thank to :

  • Ville de Lille, its mayor Madame Martine Aubry and her Sports Deputy Madam Sarah Sabé,
  • Métropole Européenne de Lille, its President M. Damien Castelain and his Vice-President in charge of Sports M. Eric Skyronka,
  • Département du Nord, its President Christian Poiret and his adviser to Sports M. François-Xavier Cadart,
  • Région Hauts de France, his President Xavier Bertrand and his Vice-Presidente in charge of Sports Madam Florence Bariseau.

I would also like to thank our private partners for their renewed confidence, but also the French Tennis Federation, the Ligue de tennis of Hauts de France and ATP.

At last, thank you to the hundred of volunteers for their commitment on this event, without them Play In Challenger would not exist.

I wish to all of you a wonderful tournament!

Antoine Sueur
