Play In Challenger Lille 2024 : no problem for Grégoire Barrère, Lucas Pouille starts

First day for main draw and first surprise with the unexpected defeat of Dino Prizmic. Croatian of 18, ranked 169th, who get one set to Novak Djokovic in 2024 Australian Open first round, was upset by Dutch Gijs Brouwer (ranked 206th) in two sets: 2-6, 4-6. The winner of 2023 Roland Garros junior  was never really able to play at its level, due to a lot of unforced errors.

However, no problem for Grégoire Barrère (124th), two times winner (2018 and 2019) and runner up (2021) in Lille, who tooko down Cezch Zdenek Kolar (235th) in two sets (6-3, 6-3) in 1h12. « The score does not necessarily reflect the physionomy of the match, but it was a good first round», explained the French player.

French Arthur Gea (449th), one of the three wild-cards of the tournament, was upset by British Billy Harris (185th), 6-4, 7-6 in 1h55. 

Following of the 1st round this Tuesday, with beginnings of Lucas Pouille. Player from North of France (289th) will evolve at home in Lille where he will be opposed to South African Lloyd Harris (180th) in the evening. Previously, Pierre-Hugues Herbert (166th) will be faced to another French player, Arthur Bouquier (612th), from qualifyings.

Other French player expected on the courts, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (170th, 8th seed) who will be opposed at the beginning of the day British Jan Choinski (173th). 2021 winner, Belgium Zizou Bergs (123rd) will be faced to his compatriot Joris De Loore (211st).    

To be noted American Brandon Nakashima (89th) withdrew of the tournament this Monday, German  Oscar Otte (286th), lucky-loser, thus joining main draw.
