The entry list for the Play In Challenger, which will happen from 17 to 25 March, has been released this Monday 26th February. Stars, French players, young rising hopes… The level expected is fantastic for this first edition!

Even if we must always be cautious with the entry list, since last minute withdrawals can happen, it gives however some indications on the level and the expected show to be proposed on Tennis Club Lillois Lille Métropole’s courts…and we can say the audience will be delighted!

Let’s start with expected « stars» of this edition, and first of all Bernard Tomic. Yes, Bernard Tomic, himself, the terrible child of Australian tennis! Quarter finalist in Wimbledon at 18, 3 titles captured on ATP World Tour, reached 17th ATP ranking in 2016… His progression to the top of world tennis was unfortunately constrained by some extra-tennis affairs. Falling down beyond 150th ranking, the Australian player is well decided to get his life back on track and to give himself the means to be back at top level: the way to redemption will go through tennis courts of TCLLM, for our greatest pleasure!

Another expected star, a French one this time: Nicolas Mahut. Do we still need to present the player from Angers, with brilliant aggressive and attacking game? Former number 1 in double, 37th at his best in single, clinched 4 titles in single, 20 in double (including US Open and Wimbledon), « Nico » also belonged to the adventure of France’s team Davis Cup, which captured the trophy last year in … Lille (and that the audience will have the occasion to see during Play In Challenger on Wednesday 21st March). Nicolas Mahut also went down in History by playing a legendary match in Wimbledon in 2011, against John Isner, which ended on the score of …70/68 in the 5th set, after 3 days fight!

Challenger tournaments also enable young talents to make their first steps on ATP World Tour and to shine, before going higher. Play In challenger will therefore be the occasion to see some of young rising stars of tennis. Among them, we can talk about Corentin Moutet, young French player of 18, already ranked 135th (as at 26th February), and Quentin Halys (21 years, ranked 115th, who recently captured the title in Cherbourg).

The contingent of French players will be numerous, with expected presence of veteran and unstoppable globe trotter Stéphane Robert, but also Kenny de Schepper (4th round in Wimbledon in 2013 and ranked 62th at his best), Constant Lestienne, in very good shape since the start of the year, and Vincent Millot.

Several German players are also expected, and in particular Mats Moraing (ranked 158th as at 26 February, more than 100 places won since the start of the year, with especially a victory over Gilles Simon).

To admire and cheer up all these champions, you can order right now your tickets here.
