The event was announced during kick off press conference of Play In Challenger : Michaël Llodra and Paul-Henri Mathieu will play an exhibition during this first edition!
That is a first big surprise in the schedule of Play In Challenger, the very new ATP Challenger tournament managed by Tennis Club Lillois Lille Métropole from 19 to 25 March 2018. Tournament’s team will propose for fans an entertaining exhibition between Michaël Llodra and Paul-Henri Mathieu. This one will happen on Wednesday, 21 March in the evening.
Michaël Llodra, former ranked 21st, captured 5 titles in single in his career. Excellent double player (he reached 3rd rank in 2011), he won 26 titles in this discipline, among which Australian Open (two times), Wimbledon and Masters. Former player of Davis Cup’s French team, he reached final of this competition in 2010. He also obtained the silver medal in the London Olympic Games in 2012 in doubles, associated with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
As for Paul-Henri Mathieu, he won 4 titles on ATP World Tour and reached 6 other finals. He obtained his best ranking in 2008 (12th). He is the last player having upset Pete Sampras on ATP Tour, during Long Island second round in 2002. At last, he is familiar with Tennis Club Lillois Lille Métropole, since he played for this club in 2001, becoming that year French Teams meeting’s Champion.
Children will also be able to take profit from the presence of these two French champions, to hit some balls with them during this day, renamed for the occasion the “kids’ day” of the week!
