Discover which players have been granted a wild card for Play In Challenger main draw!

Direction of the Tournament decided to grant a wild card to Play In Challenger main draw to following players: Yannick Mertens, Ugo Humbert, Maxime Janvier and Hugo Grenier.

Yannick Mertens is all but unknown in Lille. Two times champion of Open du Nord (« ancestor» of Play In Challenger), the Belgium player also played for several years French team’s meeting with Tennis Club Lillois Lille Métropole, manager of the event. His numerous fans will be delighted to see him « at home », on courts which suited him very well so far…

Regarding French players, we will have the pleasure to welcome Ugo Humbert, Maxime Janvier and Hugo Grenier. Ugo Humbert, 19 years, rapidly obtained significant results on ATP Tour, reaching last October quarter final of Open de Brest for his first challenger tournament. He recently captured the title in the Future of Gatineau (Canada, 25 000 $), his third crown on professional circuit. He is ranked today 328th.

Maxime Janvier currently stands at the 321st ATP ranking. Last year, he was very closed to qualify for Roland Garros main draw, losing only in the last qualifying round in three sets against Guido Pella. He reached this year quarter final in Quimper Challenger and semi final in Canberra. At 21 years, he already won one Challenger tournament and 7 futures.

At last, Hugo Grenier, also 21 years, captured a Future tournament in 2017 and is ranked today 395th. One thing special bout him: he was the sparring partner of the 8 best world ranking players during Masters of London in 2016.

These players will be added to a draw, in which, let’s remind you, we already have some great worldclass players, such as Nicolas Mahut and Bernard Tomic ! By waiting of course the results of qualifyings, which start this Saturday 17 March.
